FAQ

What kind of church is Eaglemont Christian Church (ECC)?

As the name states, it is a ‘Christian’ church. A true church, in the way the word is used in the New Testament, can be nothing but truly Christian. And to be ‘truly Christian’ a person and group must base their beliefs, practices and lifestyle solely on the Bible. We are affiliated with the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada http://www.paoc.org

What will there be for my family?

ECC will place high priority on families, which will include building strong marriages, excellent Sunday morning programs for children, and exciting opportunities for youth.

What will there be for youth?

ECC exists to provide the youth of Beaumont a healthy alternative to the everyday. In a safe atmosphere of relationships, fun and new experiences, we welcome young people to come and explore what a relationship with Jesus Christ could mean for them.

What will there be for children?

Kidz City is a place where children grades 1 – 6 can grow in a positive and encouraging environment. Sunday mornings for kids are exciting and interactive with quality character-building games, stories & songs. We care about your child’s safety and well-being!

‘FUN-dations’ is the place for pre-school children. A place for them to laugh, learn, and grow.
Full nursery care is also available during Sunday morning services!

How do I know children’s & youth workers can be trusted?

Those who work with children and youth at ECC must go through background and police checks. The safety of your children and young people are a major concertn to us. All children and youth workers/volunteers must go through a program called “Plan to Protect”, which is all about ensuring the safety & well-being of the young people in our programs.

What should I wear to a Sunday morning service at ECC?

We want people to be comfortable – whether that means jeans or a suit and tie for them. It’s not about what you wear. We’d just be honored if you came as our guest!

I’ll probably feel out of place!?

We’re here for you, so don’t think we’ll be surprised that you’ve come…we’re expecting you!

What’s with the singing in a church service?

Some people, with not too much church background, have called it ‘Karaoke’. Call it what you want but it’s one of the ways the Bible says that, as Christians, we can worship God, and express our appreciation to Him. You don’t have to participate. If it’s unfamiliar to you, it’s O.K. to just observe!

Music that helps us connect to God.

If I come to a Sunday service, will I be singled out or embarrassed (or harassed later on)?

We will not ask guests/newcomers to stand, or pin a flower on their lapel (or anything like that). We will welcome you warmly and genuinely, but will also respect your freedom to choose anonymity. If you decide to fill out a ‘Communication Card’ we’ll make contact with you to let you know that it was great to have you with us and to give you the opportunity to tell us what your experience at an ECC service was like (we can learn from people like you)! We invite you to ‘walk the journey’ with us, but you won’t be ‘besieged’ either.

Some might think: ‘The church building might cave in if I attend.’

We respectfully disagree. First of all, the building is built well. Secondly, we are convinced that God will be excited if you decide to come…and so will we!

Do I have to believe in God or Jesus before I can attend a service?

Absolutely not! As a matter of fact, we’d think you are courageous to check us out if you are not a Christian. If you’re a seeker, or a skeptic, or ambivalent…you are more than welcome, and we’d be excited to have you check us out!
