A Meaningful Christmas
Posted on December 24, 2009 by Marlo Jenkins
I am celebrating my 47th Christmas season on this earth… I know, those of you who know me can’t believe that I have been around that long – ha! I have experienced Christmas in a variety of locations and in a variety of circumstances, which has resulted in a variety of memories – some good, some not so good.
Some of the best Christmas memories we have as a family are the times when we found ways to serve others or to share with those in some type of need. We all know that giving is what it’s all about. God the father modeled that by giving his Son. A meaningful Christmas must involve giving.
If you have ever tasted the joy, even the thrill, that comes with giving ‘no strings attached’, it’s something that is easy to make a habit. The grace of giving is not just for a special season like Christmas. It’s a great way to do life 365/24/7.
On a different note, why don’t you take time (on your own, with a friend, or with your family) to read the Christmas story. You could read Matthew 1:18 – 2:12 or Luke 2:1–20, or both passages.
Merry Christmas and all the best in 2010!
