Please Send Somebody Else
Posted on December 2, 2010 by Ryan Salomons
I have been reading through the book of Exodus in my devotions. If I’m honest with you, I have been feeling a little dry in my walk with God lately. I’m not usually one to use Christian lingo to communicate something, but it really has seemed like I have entered a time where spiritually, I’m thirsty.
As I started to read the incredible story of Moses encountering God in such a real way, in a miraculous way through the episode of the burning bush recorded in Exodus 3, my mind is stuck on something Moses says to God in Chapter 4 verse 13. “But Moses said, ‘O Lord, please send someone else to do it.’”
Ever feel like that?
We can have an amazing experience with God, but in the midst of difficulty, in the midst of fear, in the midst of a decision, we back off wanting someone else to do it. Jesus himself faced this.
The truth is…
In the midst of the heartache, decisions, busyness of life, pain, when we come face to face with God in a real and genuine, way we can’t retreat. God calls us to move forward despite our circumstance. He’s not calling us to a comfortable life but a life of sacrifice and surrender.
Don’t give up…
Have a great week!
