Gold Medal Living

I am loving watching the Olympics… except for last Sunday night’s hockey game. A few days ago as Miriam and I were watching, I said: “It would be awesome to compete at that level.” Then I woke up. All of us have heard stories of Olympic athletes and what it takes to get to that level—the sacrifices, the years of preparation and training; the disciplined routines of rest, work, nutrition, etc. All to attain a prize that’s very exciting and commendable, but also is very temporaral. This month at Diverse Youth we are doing a series on “Escape”. Our nights will be focused on how at certain parts in our life we desire to escape from a moment, whether it be in our day to day life, our relationships, or maybe even our family.
