First Steps

If you are interested in investigating in what it means to be a follower of Jesus, here are some things we would suggest:

1. Get a Bible in an easy to read version. We can give you one if you don’t have one, to request a bible click here. Begin by reading the fourth book of the New Testament – it’s called: “John”. It’s one of the four eyewitness accounts of the life of Jesus Christ… written by… John, of course.

2. Begin making it your habit to come at 10 AM to our Sunday gathering. By doing so you will have the opportunity to hear teaching from the Bible. This may answer some of your questions, as well as generate other questions – both are good in the “seeking” process. Meeting on Sundays will also give you the opportunity to meet genuine Christ-followers. Interacting with them will also be helpful.

3. Connect into a Small Group - Whether you are just exploring what it means to live a Jesus based life, or have been engaged in faith for decades, there is always a community for you.

4. The Alpha Course – a video and discussion course about the basics of Christianity. It is used in many different churches all around the world. 

5. Christian Foundations Course – This course is ideal for those exploring Christianity or new to it, and those who want to establish a firmer foundation for their faith. Watch for details for the next course.

6. Don’t hesitate to contact one of the pastors. We love to interact with you about your questions about Christ and Christianity.

Next Steps - Once you are a follower of Jesus

1. One Step at a Time - Don’t get overwhelmed with all the stuff you think you should be doing to be a “good” Christian. Following Jesus is a daily journey of growing closer to Him and becoming more like Him. You are going to make mistakes, but Jesus will always forgive you and help you learn from that. Take it one step at a time as you learn how to live a Jesus-based life.

2. Continue to Read the Bible - As a follower of Jesus, your time with Him is the most important thing. Try to spend time daily reading the bible, and talking and listening to Jesus in prayer. You can find a reading plan and other resources here.

3. Get Baptized - Baptism is publicly proclaiming your faith, and you can learn more about that here.

4. Commit to Community – Start with committing to engage regularly in our Sunday gathering.  Hebrews 10:25 reminds Christ-followers that we are to “not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing?”

5. Connect into a Small Group - Community is extremely important to following Jesus. By joining a small group, you will find people from all sorts of different walks of life who will connect with you and support you as together you navigate your way through a Jesus based life. 6. Get Involved - Join the mission and goal of Eaglemont in reaching Beaumont and region with the good news message of Jesus and sharing the love of God. Learn more

7. Practice Generosity - Jesus lived a life of generosity, and we want to follow that as a Church. We want to be generous with our time (serving), and we want to be generous with our money. You can learn more and give here.

8. Understand Communion (The Lord’s Supper) - We practice Communion once a month as a Church, but you can practice communion with your family, your friends or your small group. Communion is an act of remembering what Jesus did for us, and thanking for His sacrifice on the cross. You can learn more here.
